4. Horse Racing - Travers Stakes
Dating back to 1864, the Travers Stakes is one of the most prestigious horse races in the United States. Known as the "Mid-Summer Derby", it is named after William R. Travers, one of the founders of the country's oldest sporting venue, and is exclusively open to three-year-old horses at the peak of their racing careers.
A stylish and historic occasion, the Travers Stakes trophy, known as the Man o' War Cup, was designed by Tiffany & Co. The winning horse is traditionally draped in a beautiful blanket decorated with more than 1,000 carnations, made by local artisans.
