Porchscaping Tips
First impressions count, especially on Halloween! To truly wow trick-or-treaters and set the tone for an unforgettable evening, consider going big with your porch decorations. Create a dramatic display by using multiples of themed items like paper bats, witches hats and creepy crawlies. Amp up the effect by hanging lanterns and draping giant spiders, garlands and streamers around the front door for extra impact.
Top tip!
The giant spiders are an impactful way of decorating so also have them crawling out of pots, along walls and out of fireplaces,” says Sania.
Mix Real and Paper Pumpkins
Pumpkins are a Halloween staple and mixing different types can create a dramatic display. Combine our stylish new striped honeycomb pumpkins or classic orange ones with real pumpkins for a look that’s both vibrant and visually appealing. The honeycomb pumpkins create an eye-catching centerpiece when paired with real pumpkins.
Embrace the Pinkoween Trend
Pink isn’t just for birthday parties, it’s now a chic alternative for Halloween and looks especially striking when paired with monochromatic black and white. Opt for fun pink witches hat plates and stripy bow cups and have fun serving up only pink, black and white food.
Top tip!
“Go pink for a galloween party, layer the shades of pink with black and white, then add a bow wherever there is space!” says Sania.
Bring the Outside In
Make the most of autumnal foliage and add it to your Halloween table. Anything from ivy and maple leaves to conkers and acorns will look great scattered in the center of the table. Mix and match with paper decorations and Halloween-themed crackers for extra impact.
Top tip!
“Ivy with long tendrils trailing along and down the table, gives a really good organic base to decorate around. Place candle sticks with ghostly candles and small vases of flowers along the centre too. Continue the theme along the mantlepiece and layer in family silver for additional glamour,” says Sania.
Get Prepped in Advance
Want to make your Halloween preparations a little easier? Start early by carving small gourds ahead of time. Once they’re carved, pop them in the freezer to keep them fresh until you’re ready to display them. Not only does this help your creations last longer but it also gives them a delightful frosty look that adds to the Halloween atmosphere. This simple trick ensures that your carved gourds will be ready to impress without any last-minute stress. Display them with our new Halloween candles.
Top tip!
In the build-up to Halloween, create black paper cut outs on tea-stained paper and place them into spare frames – it’s a fun and rewarding task and the frames can be brought out again every year,” says Sania.
Try Painting or Decorating Instead of Carving
If carving pumpkins feels like too much of a hassle or if you’re looking for a less messy alternative, try painting or decorating them instead with a pumpkin decorating kit Painted pumpkins can be just as striking as carved ones, with the added bonus of lasting longer. You can also use stickers or other embellishments to create intricate designs with minimal effort. This is a great way to involve the whole family in the decorating process and ensure that your pumpkins turn out looking fantastic even if you’re short on time.
Top tip!
“Bored of pumpkins? Dark flowers and fruit add a spooky and glamorous feel to the table, that you can use and eat after Halloween too,” says Sania
Decorate the Windows
Windows are the perfect canvas for Halloween decorations, offering a natural space to display your spooky items. Hang skeletons, witches, spooky heads or our new iridescent spinning ghosts in the windows. This creates a fun Halloween-themed view from the outside and inside. The right window decorations can turn any room into a Halloween haven with minimal effort.
Top tip!
“Spare jam jars collected over the year and filled with sweets and Halloween treasure such as stickers and mini toy spiders in cotton balls can be displayed by the window and used for trick and treating,” says Sania.
Join in with the Fun!
Halloween isn’t just for the kids, everyone can get in on the fun! Add a touch of magic to your Halloween gathering by serving themed mocktails with spooky names like Spooky Spider Fizz, Zombie Punch or Ghoul-ade Goblets. These drinks are not only festive but also add an interactive element to your party. Serve them in our Halloween cups to enhance the theme even further. It’s a fun and easy way to bring everyone together and make your Halloween celebration one to remember.
