Three recipes we love.

1. Unicorn fudge

This purple or pink fudge (white chocolate with food coloring) with heaps of colorful toppings is a tasty sweet treat.

Recipe makes 25 pieces.

Ingredients:

24oz white chocolate chips
Half a cup of heavy cream
Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract
Purple or pink food coloring
For the topping: sprinkles, mini marshmallows, edible glitter, and mini candies.

Make:

  • Prepare an 8x8 inch pan with parchment.
  • Place the chocolate chips, the heavy cream, and the vanilla extract into a microwave safe bowl. Melt in 30-second intervals until the mixture is smooth.
  • Now add purple or pink food coloring, add a drop at a time, and mix until you get the shade you desire. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth with a knife. Sprinkle over the toppings and press lightly into the fudge. Place in the fridge for at least an hour, then cut into small squares. Serve at room temperature.

Top tip: You can make unicorn fudge with the children as a fun party activity – they’ll love to pile on the toppings! Make it at the beginning of the party, and it’ll be ready to pop into unicorn party bags by the time little guests need to gallop off home!

2. Swirl ice-cream with unicorn horns

Homemade unicorn ice-cream is easy and fun to make and looks absolutely amazing! Here’s a fabulous recipe to try, which makes 5 cups.

Ingredients:

2 cups whipping cream
14 o
z can of sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Food coloring

For the topping: Sprinkles and edible glitter.

Make:

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the whipping cream until medium peaks form. Pour in the condensed milk and vanilla extract, and fold together until completely combined.
  • Separate the ice cream base into 5 bowls. Add 2-4 drops of food coloring to each bowl (1 color per bowl). Use a spoon to mix in the food coloring until it is evenly distributed in the ice cream base. Good colors to use are blue, green, purple, yellow and pink. Add more if you want a brighter effect.
  • In a standard loaf pan, layer the ice cream. Place half of each color in the pan in layers, then repeat. Run a butter knife through the ice-cream to swirl the colors. Add the toppings. Cover the loaf pan with plastic wrap and freeze for eight hours.

Top tip: Serve the ice-cream with ‘unicorn horns’, which are ice-cream cones you’ve decorated with drizzled melted white chocolate and sprinkles. Place on a serving tray so the children can marvel at them, then turn them over and fill with scoops of the colorful ice-cream to serve.

3. Unicorn hot chocolate

8

Fun unicorn party games:

Pin the horn on the unicorn is a definite party game must, but here are another
three games involving lots of rainbow colors your guests will adore playing.

1.Unicorn horn ring toss

You’ll need unicorn horns (make them from cardboard, and decorate with lots of glitter, or buy ready-made party hats), unicorn party plates, a glue penglitter pen, and glow-stick necklaces. Stick the unicorn horns onto the middle of the plates with the glue. On each plate write a different number, using the glitter pen – for example, 10, 20, 25, 30, 40 and 50. Make the glow stick necklaces into hoops. Party guests will take it in turn to throw the hoops at the horns, then add up the numbers on the plates of the horns the hoops land on. The winner is the one with the highest number.

2. Unicorn rainbow mane relay

You’ll need several colors of crepe streamers, some tape and some large printouts of unicorns (you could get party guests to color these in, with lots of glitter fun, as a fun party activity beforehand). Split guests into teams of equal numbers. Hang the unicorn pictures, one for each team, at the end of the room/yard. Give each child in a team a different color of streamer, with a piece of looped tape on the back so they can easily stick this to the picture. The object of the game is to see which team can create a colorful mane for their unicorn first! Get the first child to run to their team’s unicorn and place the streamer on its head, then run back to their team.  The next child will run and do the same. Repeat until all the colors are attached.

3. Unicorn pass the parcel

Children of all ages love this game, especially when you have enough layers and little presents so everyone is a winner! To give this classic game a unicorn theme simply wrap the gifts with lots of rainbow-colored paper, and include unicorn related gifts, like our sensational unicorn and rainbow temporary tattoos.
